When Does Your Car Seat Expire? A Brand-by-Brand Parent Guide

The car seat expiration date is typically printed on a sticker or molded into the plastic of the car seat. This information is commonly located on the back or bottom of the seat. It’s important to check this date to ensure that the car seat is still safe and effective for use.

1. UPPAbaby MESA Infant Car Seat

  • Lifespan: 7 years from the date of manufacture.
  • Model Number, Manufactured Date and Expiration Date can be found on the manufacture labels on bottom of Carrier and Base.

2. UPPAbaby Rove Convertible Car Seat

  • Lifespan: 10 years from the date of manufacture.
  • Information can be found on the manufacture labels or engraved on the underside of the Child Restraint.

3. Nuna PIPA Infant Car Seat

  • Lifespan: 7 years from the date of manufacture.
  • Model Number, Manufactured Date and Expiration Date are located on a label on the bottom of your child restraint.

4. Clek Liing Infant Seat

  • Lifespan: 9 years from its date of manufacture.
  • Liing features two different dates and serial numbers - one corresponding to the carrier and one corresponding to the base. 
  • The Liing carrier's date of manufacture and serial number can be found on the barcode label on the underside of the carrier.
  • The Liing bases's date of manufacture and serial number can be found on the barcode label on the bottom of the base.

5. Doona Infant Car Seat & Stroller

  • Lifespan: The brand recommends to discontinue the use of a Doona car seat after 6 years from the date of manufacture.
  • Model Number, Serial Number and Date of Manufacture. This information can be found on a white label located on the back of the child restraint system.

  • Lifespan: 10 years from the date of manufacture
  • The manufacturing date can be found on a white sticker on the back or bottom of the car seat. The sticker will also display the model number.

7. Graco SnugRide Infant Car Seat

  • Lifespan: 7 years from the date of manufacture.
  • The manufacturing date can be found on a white sticker on the back or bottom of the car seat. The sticker will also display the model number.

8. Joie Mint Latch Baseless Infant Car Seat

  • Lifespan: 7 years from the date of manufacture.
  • Check the label on the back of the seat for the manufacture date.

9. Chicco KeyFit 35 Infant Car Seat

  • Lifespan: 6 years from the date of manufacture.
  • Check manufacturer’s label on underside of Child Restraint for the “Do Not Use After” date.

10. WAYB  Pico Forward Facing Car Seat

  • Lifespan: 7 years from the date of manufacture.
  • The date of manufacture (DOM) can be found on the sticker at the base of the seat.

11. Britax Poplar S Convertible Car Seat

  • Lifespan: 10 years after the date of manufacture.
  • The Date of Manufacture and Expiration Date can be found on a label located on the seat itself. Typically, this label is placed under the seat, on the side, or on the back of the car seat shell.

  • Lifespan: 10 years from its date of manufacture.
  • The manufacture date can be found on a sticker on the side or bottom of the car seat shell.
